Day 1: from Saint-Lô to Tessy-sur-Vire (25 km - ~15 ½ miles)
Just outside the town of Saint-Lô, you are already cycling through the Vire Valley in the Normandy countryside.
Halfway along, just after Condé-sur-Vire, the leisure activity centre located on your route is the ideal place for a picnic. Here you can enjoy activities such as canoeing, mountain biking, archery and even climbing.
5 km (3 miles) from your evening stopover, take a break at La Chapelle-sur-Vire. It has a large multisport playing field, a fitness trail and a wildlife pond.
Day 2: Tessy-sur-Vire to Saint-Lô (25 km - ~15 ½ miles)
Before picking up the greenway to Saint-Lô again, take a quick cycle around the town of Tessy and stop for a moment in the floral park beside the church.
A perfect place to stop for a picnic is the Roches de Ham, a rocky site of outstanding natural beauty with beautiful belvederes overlooking the twists and turns of the Vire Valley. In the high season, you can even enjoy a pancake or a glass of apple juice at the Roches du Ham crêperie.
Back in Saint-Lô, why not visit the Norman Bocage Museum, which is located in an old farm building? It offers a vivid picture of the rural Bocage society in Normandy from the 19th century to modern times.
There are other activities you can enjoy as a family around the trail:
- The Vélorail in Condé-sur-Vire
- The leisure activity park called Le Trésor Normand near Saint-Lô
- The high ropes course in Torigni-sur-Vire
