Bray-Dunes / Dunkirk
This first stage of the Vélomaritime cycle route links Belgium and France, starting near Bray-Dunes, on the French coast immediately west of the Belgian border. Crossing the Dunes de Flandre (a nature reserve declared a Grand Site de France) to reach Dunkirk (Dunkerque in French), appreciate the palette of colours and atmospheres in this unique natural setting made up of big dunes of fine sand.

The route

From the Belgian border, passing through Bray-Dunes and on to Dunkirk, the Vélomaritime cycle route takes the form of a greenway. It allows you to discover the expansive dunes along here in a very safe way. Signposting should be put in place in the course of 2021.

From Leffrinckoucke, you can ride along the sea-wall promenade through the resort of Malo-les-Bains to reach the centre of Dunkirk.
Entering this port at the level of Coudekerque-Branche, note that at time of writing, one stretch is still being laid out.
